Algeria Shines on Day One of Swimming Competitions at the 2025 African School Games in Sétif: Six Medals Secured

The Olympic swimming pool at the National School of Olympic Sports in Sétif witnessed a remarkable start to the swimming events of the 2025 African School Games. Algerian swimmers delivered an impressive performance on the opening day, securing a total of six medals—four silver and two bronze—across various individual races, signaling a promising outlook for the rest of the competition.
Amin Achouri opened Algeria’s medal count with a strong performance in the men’s 50m butterfly, clinching the silver medal after a fierce contest. Shortly after, Mohamed El Hadi Saygha added another silver by finishing second in the men’s 200m breaststroke.
In the women’s events, Aya Hamdaoui impressed in the 50m freestyle, claiming silver after a close race against a strong Egyptian contender. Meanwhile, Hala Zerrouki showcased her talent in the 200m butterfly, earning Algeria its fourth silver medal of the day.
On the bronze front, Mehdi Dahan secured third place in the men’s 100m backstroke, while Kamelia Mazour delivered a strong finish in the women’s 800m freestyle, earning a well-deserved bronze medal.
