Setif – The first African School Games in Setif stood out as a model of excellence in sports healthcare, offering participating athletes an unprecedented level of medical security and reassurance.
This achievement was made possible through seamless coordination between several national institutions, including the National Center for Sports Medicine, the Health Directorate of Setif Province, the Anti-Doping Center, the Algerian Red Crescent, and Civil Defence services.
Health officials emphasized the importance of ensuring full medical coverage at all competition venues and within the sports village. A fully equipped medical clinic was set up, staffed with a team of doctors, nurses, and emergency personnel available around the clock to respond promptly to any health needs.
The medical care system was marked by the speed and professionalism of its interventions. Several minor injuries such as muscle strain, fatigue, or temporary health issues were treated immediately and efficiently, without interrupting the course of competitions. Emergency and first aid teams were constantly on alert within and around the sports venues, ready to transport any injured athlete within minutes if necessary.
All participants underwent medical examinations, and any issues were promptly identified and treated either on-site or at the clinic, with quick transfers arranged for cases requiring advanced care.
The presence of the Anti-Doping Center added an additional layer of health protection and integrity for the athletes, while the Algerian Red Crescent and Civil Defence played essential supporting roles in all organizational, medical, and safety operations.
This flawless coordination among various entities reflects Algeria’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding athletes and prioritizing health during this major continental event.
